About

Fencing Built for the Gorge

Hood River asks more of a fence than most places. The wind comes through most afternoons, the sun is harder than it is west of the mountains, and on a river-facing lot the last thing anyone wants is a solid wall across the view.

We fabricate custom fences in our own shop, install prefab horizontal slat systems, and build vertical fencing either way, finishing every run for full exposure rather than for a sheltered suburban yard.

We build our Hood River metal fences together with Fences & Gates Pro, pairing their fencing experience with the fabrication and finishing we do in our own shop.

What We Build

Three Fence Builds for Hood River Properties

Each build serves a different property in the Gorge, and together they cover the valley.

Custom Fabricated Fences

For a Heights lot that steps toward the Columbia, a vineyard or orchard boundary, or a design that has to sit with a modern build, custom fabrication in steel or aluminum gives us full control of height, spacing, and how the run meets the grade.

Prefab Horizontal Slat Fences

Prefab horizontal slat panels suit the newer Hood River builds and rental properties: factory-consistent, quicker to install, and easy to specify with a gap that lets the wind through.

Vertical Fences, Custom or Prefab

The upright profile that suits the downtown bungalows and valley farmhouses, fabricated to an exact line where the property calls for it, or installed as quality prefab vertical panels.

Slat Materials

Slat Materials: Aluminum and Steel, or Composite

The slat does most of the visual work on a fence, and it comes in metal or composite.

Aluminum and Steel Slat Fences

Aluminum keeps a slat fence rust-free and light, which matters on an exposed Gorge line. Steel steps in where strength or a heavier profile is wanted against the wind. Powder-coats run from matte black to bronze and wood tones, finished for sun as well as rain.

Composite Slat Fences

Composite slats pair a metal frame with wood-look boards that never need staining, giving a Hood River property the warmth of wood without the annual work that sun and wind would otherwise create.

Privacy Levels

Privacy From Full Screening to Open and Architectural

Privacy comes in degrees, and we settle the degree with you before anything is built.

Privacy

Tight slat spacing closes off a patio or hot tub completely and knocks down a good share of the afternoon wind, which can be the difference between using a space and looking at it.

Semi Privacy

An even gap screens the direct view while letting the wind pass through rather than pushing against a solid panel, a sensible middle setting on an exposed lot.

Open & Architectural

Wider spacing keeps the Columbia and the valley fully in view and lets the wind straight through, reading as a property line rather than a barrier.

Laser Cut Panels

Custom Laser Cut Panels for Hood River Fences

When a project wants something past a standard picket or slat, we laser cut custom metal panels, so a Hood River fence can carry a geometric screen or privacy insert drawn for the property. Cut in our own shop, they integrate into both custom fabricated fences and prefab runs, giving a modern or rental property a one-off detail on an efficient base.

We deliver this fencing together with Fences & Gates Pro, pairing their fence experience with our fabrication and laser cutting.

Communities and New Builds

Working With Gorge Communities and New Builds

Some Hood River communities keep written standards for fence height, style, and material, and a few review exterior changes before work starts. We prepare the drawings and samples the association asks for so approval is straightforward.

For new construction we coordinate with your builder so the fence arrives as part of the finished design, matched in color and profile to the rest of the exterior.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Hood River is about an hour east of the metro and part of our regular schedule, along with Mosier, Cascade Locks, and White Salmon across the bridge.

Regularly. Rental yards see constant use and little day-to-day attention, so we build in metal and composite that take the traffic and need almost nothing between turnovers. The project can start from photos if you are not local.

Powder-coated aluminum and steel both do well when they are finished properly. The Gorge adds hard sun to the usual rain, so we spec with both in mind rather than treating it like a sheltered valley yard.

Tight slat spacing knocks down a good share of it, which on a Hood River patio can turn an unusable afternoon into the best seat on the property. How much you block is a spacing decision we make together on site.

A solid panel catches the wind, so on an exposed lot the posts and footings carry real load. We build for it, and we will also talk you through a gapped alternative, because a fence with even a small slat gap lets the wind through while still screening the view.
