Why Vancouver Picks Us
Exterior Railings for Vancouver's Two Eras
Vancouver’s outdoor spaces split down the middle. The historic core, Hough, Arnada, Shumway, carries front porches that define whole streets, while Felida, Salmon Creek, and the Waterfront district add view decks and balconies aimed at the Columbia.
We build for both sides. Porch balustrades get matched or rebuilt so the streetscape keeps its character, and view decks get glass and cable systems fabricated to hold the outlook. Either way, one team measures, draws, fabricates, and installs.
Everything is finished for the weather it will live in, from a north-facing porch to a balcony over the river.
Railing Systems
Porch, Deck & Balcony Railings for Vancouver
Across Clark County the same three systems do most of the exterior work. Here is how they land on Vancouver homes.
Metal Railings
From Craftsman porches to modern step rails, Vancouver runs on well-finished metal. From horizontal deck rails to detailed porch pickets, metal covers the widest range outdoors. We fabricate in steel and aluminum, finish each railing for the wet season, and build to the measurements of your deck or steps, so the fit is exact and the finish lasts.
Glass Railings
Waterfront balconies and Felida view decks are glass territory, plain and simple. Nothing preserves an outlook like glass. We install tempered panel systems on decks, balconies, and patios where pickets would chop up the view, sized to the space and paired with posts and rails from our own shop.
Cable Railings
Cable suits Vancouver’s newer east-side decks: open, sturdy, family-proof. Cable railing keeps a deck open without the panels. Thin stainless runs, tensioned between shop-built posts, stand up to the seasons and let the view pass straight through. It suits contemporary homes and any deck where a heavy railing would close in the space.
Where We Work
Serving Every Vancouver Neighborhood Outdoors
In Hough, Arnada, Shumway, and Lincoln, porch railings are the signature work: reproducing period balustrades, repairing what can be saved, and building new sections that read as original. Downtown and at the Waterfront, balcony railings on condos face the river.
North and west, Felida, Salmon Creek, and Lakeshore bring elevated view decks in glass and cable, while Fisher’s Landing and Cascade Park keep a steady rhythm of deck upgrades on the established east side.

Built for Here
Porch Country on the North Bank
A porch railing on a 1915 Vancouver home is part of the architecture, so replacing it with something generic changes the whole face of the house. We reproduce the original profiles and proportions, then finish the new work for decades outdoors, which the originals never got.
On the modern side, the Columbia sets the brief: keep the river in view. Waterfront balconies and Felida decks get glass and cable systems fabricated to the space, with coatings and connections chosen for full weather exposure.
Styles
Period Porches or River Modern
Vancouver splits cleanly outdoors: faithful traditional work in the historic districts, open modern systems everywhere the river is in view. We build both.
Modern Railings
At the Waterfront and in Felida, modern means the railing defers to the river. The modern exterior work we build leans on proportion rather than ornament: thin steel members, uninterrupted glass, clean cable. Finished for the weather, the railing becomes a sharp line the eye follows across the deck.
Ornamental Railings
In Hough and Arnada, exterior ironwork is neighborhood preservation. For traditional homes, ornamental iron carries the detail an entry or porch asks for. Our fabricators build scrollwork, knuckles, and custom patterns by hand and finish them for the weather, so the railing looks original to the house and stays that way.

Exterior Railing Questions from Vancouver
How far around Vancouver do you travel for exterior work?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-31T08:01:48-07:00All of Clark County, including Camas, Washougal, Ridgefield, and Battle Ground, plus the full Portland metro across the river.
Do you build deck railings on the east side too?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-31T08:00:37-07:00Constantly. Fisher's Landing, Cascade Park, and the surrounding neighborhoods bring steady deck upgrade work, usually trading worn wood for steel or cable systems fabricated to the existing deck.
What railing do you recommend for a Columbia view balcony?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-31T07:59:56-07:00Glass, in almost every case. Tempered panel systems keep the river fully in view and handle the exposure. Cable is the alternative when you want texture or a lighter budget.
Can you restore the front porch railing on our Craftsman home?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-31T07:59:25-07:00Yes, porch restoration is signature work for us in the historic districts. We match the original balusters, spacing, and rail profiles, keep whatever can be saved, and build the rest so the porch reads exactly as it should from the street.
