About Deck Railings
Deck Railings in Camas, WA
Camas homes are built to face something, the Columbia from Prune Hill, the water around Lacamas, Mt. Hood on a clear day, and the deck is where you take it in. The railing decides how much of that view actually reaches the deck. We design, fabricate, and install custom deck railings across Camas in metal, glass, and cable, modern and ornamental.
Every railing is measured at your deck and built in our own shop, so it fits the deck you have, including the stepped and wrapped decks common on the hill.
Most Camas decks run modern, glass and cable leading the way, but we build ornamental metal too when a home calls for it.
Why the Railing Matters
On a View Lot, the Railing Is Everything
A Camas view deck lives or dies on its railing. A standard picket run chops the Columbia or the valley into strips; frameless glass or thin cable keeps it whole. On the lots where the view is the reason you bought the house, that is the single most important choice on the deck.
Newer construction adds a maintenance angle: a fabricated metal, glass, or cable railing skips the upkeep a wood railing demands, so the deck keeps looking new years after move-in.
Our Work
Deck Railing Materials
Metal, glass, and cable each suit a different Camas deck. Here is how they compare on a view lot and a family backyard alike.
Metal Deck Railings
The versatile all-rounder. Black steel suits nearly any Camas deck, and it holds its own in the big two-story volumes common here. Modern flat-bar or ornamental pattern work, both finished for the wet season.
Glass Deck Railings
The Prune Hill default. Frameless tempered panels hold the Columbia and valley views whole and calm the wind on an exposed deck. Framed is the lower-cost option that still reads modern.
Cable Deck Railings
The quiet favorite in the newer neighborhoods. Thin stainless cable keeps a family deck open, takes daily use, and lets the breeze through instead of catching it. Modern lines at a sensible cost.
Neighborhood Know-How
Deck Railings Across Camas
On Prune Hill and around Lacamas Shores, elevated view decks lead the work, in glass and cable that hold the outlook. In Camas Meadows, Dawson Ridge, and Deer Creek, we are often replacing builder deck railings a few years after move-in.
Downtown and around Crown Park, older homes bring ornamental metal and smaller projects, while the lakefront decks near Round Lake take the same view-first glass treatment as the hill.

Two Directions
Two Directions for a Camas Deck Railing
New Camas construction runs modern; the older core keeps ornamental in the mix. Both come from the same shop, finished for the weather.
Modern Deck Railings
Modern is the Camas default. Slim black steel, frameless glass, or tight cable, with clean horizontal lines that keep the Columbia or the valley in view. It is the look the newer view homes were designed around.
Ornamental Deck Railings
Ornamental suits the older homes near downtown. Decorative pickets and pattern work in fabricated iron, finished for the outdoors, giving a classic Camas home a deck railing with real character.
Local Conditions
Modern or Ornamental
Camas leans modern, and its decks show it: clean horizontal lines in steel, glass, or cable that keep the view in charge. That look practically comes standard on the newer view homes. Ornamental has its place too, on the older homes near downtown and on properties that want more detail.
We fabricate both in our own shop, so the direction is a design choice, not a constraint.

Deck Railing FAQs for Camas
Do you serve Washougal and Vancouver too?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-22T14:54:10-07:00Yes. Camas, Washougal, Vancouver, and the wider Clark County area are home territory, plus the full Portland metro across the river.
Can you do an ornamental deck railing?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-22T14:53:36-07:00Yes. Decorative pickets and pattern work in fabricated iron suit the older homes near downtown, built in our own shop and finished for the outdoors.
Will glass panels help with wind on an exposed deck?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-22T14:52:59-07:00
Often, yes. Solid panels block a good share of the wind coming up the valley, which can turn an afternoon deck from unusable to the best seat in the house, all while keeping the view. Cable and open systems let the wind straight through instead.
Our builder put a basic railing on the deck. Can you replace it?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-22T14:52:11-07:00Yes, it is one of our most common Camas projects. If the deck structure is sound, we measure it, fabricate the new railing to those dimensions, and swap it in. On a view lot it is the most visible upgrade available.
Glass or cable for a Prune Hill view deck?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-22T14:51:38-07:00Glass keeps the view completely whole and blocks the most wind, which matters on an exposed hill lot. Cable costs less, keeps most of the openness, and lets the breeze through. Plenty of Camas decks use glass on the view side and cable on the rest.
