About Stair Railings

Stair Railings in Vancouver, WA

Vancouver runs two stair stories at once: century-old Craftsman balustrades in Hough and Arnada, and tall foyer flights in the new custom homes across Felida and Salmon Creek. We design, fabricate, and install custom stair railings across the city in metal, glass, and cable, modern and ornamental.

Every railing is measured flight by flight and built in our own shop. As the Oregon arm of a Washington-based company, Clark County is home ground.

On a 1915 stair that means matching original character; on a new build it means long runs and tall foyer sections drawn for that exact space.

What We Build

Stair Railing Materials

Metal, glass, and cable each suit a different Vancouver staircase. Here is how they compare.

Horizontal metal stair railings with slim bars and a wood handrail in Vancouver, WA.

Metal Stair Railings

The most versatile across Vancouver’s range, from Craftsman-appropriate forged pickets to slim modern balusters in a new custom home.

Interior glass stair railings with black metal posts and a wood handrail in Vancouver, WA.

Glass Stair Railings

The pick for a river-facing flight or a tall foyer with upper windows, keeping light and view moving through the house.

Modern interior cable stair railing with metal posts beside a carpeted staircase in Vancouver, WA.

Cable Stair Railings

The modern option for newer east and north-side homes, keeping a stair open and pairing well with a wood handrail.

Why the Railing Matters

Two Eras, Two Different Stairs

A 1915 Vancouver staircase and a 2024 Felida foyer flight have almost nothing in common except that neither takes a stock railing kit well. The old stair has settled treads and profiles worth matching; the new one has long runs and tall sections where any drift shows.

Both are solved the same way: measure the flight as it actually is, fabricate to those dimensions, and detail the landings so the run carries through.

Local Experts

Stair Railings Across Vancouver

In Felida, Salmon Creek, and Lakeshore, custom homes bring grand stairs, tall foyer flights, and second-floor runs, usually in slim steel or glass. Downtown and at the Waterfront, condo stairs call for compact modern systems.

In Hough, Arnada, Shumway, and Lincoln, the work is period balustrade matching on century-old stairs, while Fisher’s Landing and Cascade Park bring oak-to-metal conversions.

Two Directions

New construction runs modern; the historic districts keep period work. Both come from the same shop.

Modern Stair Railings

In Felida and at the Waterfront, modern leads. Slim steel, glass, or cable under a clean handrail, drawn for the long runs and tall foyer sections common in new custom builds.

Ornamental Stair Railings

In Hough and Arnada, period profiles matter. Forged pickets and newel detail matched to a Craftsman-era stair, so new balustrade work reads as part of the original house.
