Why Washougal Picks Us
Exterior Railings from the Ridge to the River
Washougal’s outdoor spaces mirror the town’s geography. View decks climb the hills above the Columbia, front porches line the mill-era blocks near downtown, and up the Washougal River the properties stretch into acreage, cabins, and farmhouses with real weather exposure.
We build for the whole spread: glass and cable systems for the ridge decks, honest steel and wood for in-town porches and steps, and durable fabricated railings for the river properties that live furthest from town.
Every railing is measured at the property, fabricated in our own shop, and installed by our own crew, finished for a Gorge-edge climate.
Our Work
Deck, Porch & Patio Railings for Washougal
Washougal’s exterior work comes down to one question: what does the space face? These three systems answer it in different ways.
Metal Railings
From mill-town porches to river cabins, well-finished steel is Washougal’s constant. An exterior metal railing has two jobs: hold its line and hold its finish. Ours do both because we fabricate and finish everything in our own shop, from slim modern bars to porch railings with real detail, and build each one for the weather it will live in.
Glass Railings
On the ridge, glass gives a Columbia-facing deck the whole river, all the time. Glass railing gives an outdoor space its view back. We fabricate the posts, clamps, and rails ourselves and pair them with tempered panels cut for your deck, so the system reads as part of the architecture rather than an add-on.
Cable Railings
Cable suits Washougal’s outdoor life: open to the view, indifferent to the weather. For an outdoor railing that steps aside and lets the setting speak, cable is hard to beat. We fabricate the posts and top rails in our shop and tension the runs on site so they stay tight and even through the seasons.
Neighborhood Know-How
Downtown to Bear Prairie, Outdoors
In the hills, around Washougal Heights and Lookout Ridge, elevated decks face the Columbia and the Gorge, which keeps glass and cable at the front of the conversation. Downtown and in the Hathaway and Gause blocks, porches and step railings on older homes bring warmer, simpler work.
Up Washougal River Road, toward Mt. Pleasant and Bear Prairie, acreage homes and cabins need railings that handle full exposure with little fuss, and out toward Cape Horn the view work returns at full strength.

Why It Matters Here
Gorge-Edge Weather, Country Distances
Washougal sits where the Gorge weather starts, wetter winters, harder wind, real sun in summer, and its railings live in all of it. We build accordingly: powder-coated steel, aluminum where moisture is relentless, tempered glass, and connections sealed against the rain.
The properties up the river add a practical point: a railing out there should be built right the first time. Shop fabrication to field measurements is how we make sure the system that arrives fits the deck it was drawn for.
Styles
River Modern or Mill-Town Classic
The ridge and river run modern and open. The older blocks keep classic porch profiles alive. One shop builds both, finished for the same climate.
Modern Railings
Washougal’s view decks want what the Gorge wants: open, dark, durable. The modern exterior work we build leans on proportion rather than ornament: thin steel members, uninterrupted glass, clean cable. Finished for the weather, the railing becomes a sharp line the eye follows across the deck.
Ornamental Railings
On the mill-era blocks, a porch railing with detail still suits the street. For traditional homes, ornamental iron carries the detail an entry or porch asks for. Our fabricators build scrollwork, knuckles, and custom patterns by hand and finish them for the weather, so the railing looks original to the house and stays that way.

Exterior Railing Questions from Washougal
Do you serve Camas and the rest of Clark County too?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-31T12:16:35-07:00We do. Washougal, Camas, Vancouver, and the wider county are home territory, plus the Portland metro across the river.
Can you build porch and step railings for the older in-town homes?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-31T12:16:00-07:00All the time. The mill-era blocks bring steady porch work, from simple handrails to railings with period character, finished for decades outdoors.
Do you work on cabins and acreage properties up the river?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-31T12:15:23-07:00Yes, River Road, Mt. Pleasant, and Bear Prairie are all in the regular rotation. Those projects follow the same path as one in town: measure, design, fabricate, install, with materials chosen for full exposure.
What railing is best for a Columbia-view deck in the hills?
Custom Railings Oregon2026-08-31T12:14:50-07:00Glass leads when the river is the point: tempered panels keep the whole outlook and calm the wind on an exposed deck. Cable is the open alternative that lets the gusts pass through. Both are fabricated to your deck in our shop.
